Privacy Policy
We have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you during your use of the website as set down by the Data Protection Act 1998.
When you visit this website your IP address, browser and version, operating system and the site you came from are stored by Google Analytics. This information does not contain any personal information, and is used for statistical purposes, to help us improve the site.
In common with most sites, unless you have set your browser settings to restrict them (learn more about Internet browser cookies - what they are and how to manage them), the site will save a small file commonly known as a ‘cookie’ on your computer. This file enables us this website to remember your preferences.
Third-party vendors, including Google who provide most of the ads on the site through Adsense, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to your website. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the advertising opt-out page. (Alternatively, you can direct users to opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.)
If you send us an email or complete an online form, we will use the information you supply to respond to your query or comments, and if appropriate will forward it onto other organisations that are better placed to answer your query.
The system will record your email address and other information if it is volunteered to us by you. If you opt to receive further information about the South West Coast Path and other National Trails by ticking the relevant box and providing contact details, these details will be stored and used for these purposes only. This information will be shared with Natural England (or the relevant successor organisation responsible for National Trails) and will be stored in a secure environment. It will not be passed on to any other third party.
Email and other contact information supplied by entrants to the annual photo competition will be retained for as long as we keep the photos, so that if required we can contact you to seek permission to use them for purposes outside of the terms of the competition.
