  • Hello there - I'm after some advice based on your experience and those who have walked the path during June/July. I'm walking a section of the path (Minehead to Morwenstow between 15 June - 5 July and wondered about accommodation. Do I really need to book it all in advance or will there be enough availability? If there are places I really do need to book ahead - which are they? I'd like to keep some flexibility with my trip as some days I might be able to walk further than others! Not wondering what the best approach would be. Welcome your advice and suggestions please. Thank you! http://www.morwhenna.com/2015/02/the-4040-project-no1-brecons-to.html morwhenna.com more

  • Towan Island, Newquay. The house on Towan Island dates from 1901 and is accessed by a 30m long suspension bridge 25m above the beach. The house was once owned by Sir Oliver Lodge, inventor of the spark plug. • Porthcurno from the Minack Theatre. While is might look like (and is), a beautiful remote beach, Porthcurno was once the centre of the Communication Industry. Much of the village was owned by 'Cable and Wireless' and it was from here that most submarine telegraph cables came ashore. Today there is a very interesting telegraph museum built into the cliffs which is worth a visit. Porthcurno is also accessible on foot by the South West Coast Path, being about two hours walk from Land's End or about four hours walk from Penzance. • The Tidal Pool, Mousehole. Many of Cornwall's coastal towns had a tidal pool where generations of children learned to swim. Mousehole's Tidal pool lies next to the SW Coast footpath on the eastern side of the harbour by the Rock Pool Cafe.
