  • Towan Island, Newquay. The house on Towan Island dates from 1901 and is accessed by a 30m long suspension bridge 25m above the beach. The house was once owned by Sir Oliver Lodge, inventor of the spark plug. • Porthcurno from the Minack Theatre. While is might look like (and is), a beautiful remote beach, Porthcurno was once the centre of the Communication Industry. Much of the village was owned by 'Cable and Wireless' and it was from here that most submarine telegraph cables came ashore. Today there is a very interesting telegraph museum built into the cliffs which is worth a visit. Porthcurno is also accessible on foot by the South West Coast Path, being about two hours walk from Land's End or about four hours walk from Penzance. • The Tidal Pool, Mousehole. Many of Cornwall's coastal towns had a tidal pool where generations of children learned to swim. Mousehole's Tidal pool lies next to the SW Coast footpath on the eastern side of the harbour by the Rock Pool Cafe. • Cape Cornwall. The only 'Cape' in England. The cape was bought by the Heinz Food Company in 1987 and donated to the nation to celebrate 100 years of trading in the UK. The chimney on the cape, all that remains of Cape Cornwall Tin mine, was retained as a navigation aid a dedicated as the Heinz Monument. The rocks offshore are 'The Brisons' and are said to look like a fat man (some say General DeGaulle), lying on his back in the sea. In the mid-distance, in the green field, are the remains of the ancient St Helen's oratory which dates from pre-roman times. The SW Coast path passes around the cape and can be incorporated in a circular walk from St Just to the Kenidjack valley and back via Priest's Cove and Tregeseal.
