  • Portreath Harbour Portreath harbour used to be one of the most important ports in Cornwall. It was a major port for the export of tin and copper from the mines and the import of coal from South Wales. Some of the horse drawn tramways used to move goods inland have now been converted to cycle paths and link Portreath on the North Coast to Devoran on the South Coast. The South West Coast Path from Hayle to Porthtowan skirts around the harbour and up to the 'Pepperpot' on the headland. The part of the Coast Path near RAF Portreath is quite strenuous with long steep descents and assents. Today Porthreath is home to the odd fishing boat and pleasure craft, much of the harbour having been redeveloped for Housing. To the west of the harbour breakwater is the main beach, popular with families and surfers. Please feel free to share/comment/tag or like, this photo and any other photos from my facebook page. • Sandymouth Beach, Bude, Cornwall. Sandymouth is just two miles north of Bude at low tide it is quite a pleasant walk along the beach where you can savor the sea air while admiring the wonderful rock formations with numerous anticlines, synclines and If you know what you are looking for, sand volcanoes. On reaching Sandymouth, why not treat yourself to refreshments at the lovely National Trust Cafe before returning along the South West Coast Path. • Geevor Mine, Pendeen, Cornwall. This is the view of Geevor Mine from the South West Coast Path. Geevor is perhaps not what most people think f when they think of a Cornish tin mine, but this is what mining at the end of the 20th century really looked like. Geevor Mine closed in 1990 but the site is now a museum and visitor attraction. You can explore the site where much of the ore processing equipment remains intact and even have an underground tour. From Geevor you can walk back along the coast path to 'Poldark Country' where you can see the archetypal Cornish engine houses at Levant and Botallack where many to the scenes for the popular TV drama were recently filmed. Geevor is a 30min drive along the scenic coast road from St Ives and is a stop on the open top bus route which operates in the summer season.
