A new record has been set for completing all 630 miles of the South West Coast Path after Patrick Devine-Wright made it in 14 days 8 hours and 2 minutes, shaving 7 hours off the previous record.
The Dartmouth Steam Railway, First Great Western and the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership have joined forces to launch a new South Devon Walking Festival which will take place between 9th and 17th May.
The Coast Path’s £1m Coastal Communities Fund project is well underway with 15 projects completed to repair the storm damaged Coast Path.
Followiing a cliff fall at the weekend the Coast Path has been temporarily diverted approximately 10 metres inland of its old route. Over the next few months Devon County Council will monitor the cliff fall and hold discussions with Thurlestone Golf Club with a view to formalising a permanent alternative route. The Golf Club's help in quickly providing an alternative route is much appreciated.

To celebrate the best of the west’s dog walks, the South West Coast Path, with the backing of Your Dog Magazine, are asking dog owners for the third year running to vote for one of 18 special walks all around the path. We’re celebrating our amazing coastline this year by going out for a run on some of the best bits.
Whether you’re a seasoned trail runner or someone who last saw their trainers down the back of the sofa, we want you to join us to make the most of the beautiful coastline in North Cornwall.
We’re offering to guide you on either a 10k or 5k social run with the help of Bodmin Road Runners.

Join Kernow Astronomers and National Trust rangers for some sun and stargazing at this stunning cliff top location, recently awarded Dark Skies status.
As the sun, our nearest star, sets slowly we may see sunspots and solar flares on its surface with a special solar scope.
The moon will follow closely behind, have a look at the craters and mountains through telescopes and see thousands of stars.

Thurlestone Golf Day 11th September
After a very successful charity golf day this past October, to support the South Hams Appeal, Thurlestone Golf Club is again hosting a special charity golf competition on the 11th September supported by Bartons Solicitors. This 18-hole 4 BBB open competition, aims to raise funds for South West Coast Path improvements and repairs and costs £60 per pair to enter and includes lunch.
