Walkers benefit from improvements to Coast Path on Helford River
One of the loveliest walks on the South West Coast Path, between Falmouth and the Helford River,
has benefited from a programme of step building and drainage, thanks to a joint project between Cornwall Council Countryside Service, CORMAC Solutions Ltd, Cornish Cottage Holidays, Mawnan Smith Parish Council and the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE).
The project, to the east of Mawnan Church towards Rosemullion Head and to the west in the direction of the Helford River, is the third to be commissioned in the past year by Cornwall Council Countryside Service and overseen by Cormac Solutions on this section of the South West Coast Path. The first two projects concentrated on opening up views and improving the surface of the Coast Path between Falmouth through Gyllingvase, Swanpool to Maenporth.
Gareth Dickson, from Cornish Cottage Holidays, says: “We are proud to be able to make such a positive impact on one of our beautiful county’s most valuable assets, so that everyone can enjoy the great outdoors and its views for free, for years to come.
“I’m looking forward to walking this section myself later in the year as Jessica, our proprietor’s daughter, nears the end of her sponsored walk along the entire Cornish section of the Coast Path.
