Walk description:

The walk starts from Salcombe quay with a crossing on the passenger ferry over the estuary to East Portlemouth. (This ferry runs all year round). The estuary is always busy with small craft, but as a Local Nature Reserve it also harbours important marine wildlife. From East Portlemouth, the route follows the lane south to Millbay beach. The Coast Path then leads around the estuary mouth, initially through woodland and then out onto the open coast through grass, heath and scrub with fine views across to Bolt Head. The route continues as far as the former Gara Rock Hotel, perched on the cliff top with fine views. There is a fine quiet sandy beach below. Return inland along the tree-lined bridleway which follows the valley down to Millbay, and back to East Portlemouth.
