Bill Scolding has written a book ' Five Walks around Mount Edgcumbe and the Rame Peninsular.'
Mount Edgecombe Country Park covers 865 acres of spectacular coastal scenery and countryside. Within the Country Park you'll discover herds of wild deer;Formal Gardens and landscaped woodlands with breathtaking panoramic views;historic buildings including a fort, a temple, a folly and an Orangery;the National Camellia Collection and more that 180 species of trees.
Mount Edgecombe lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Rame Peninsula, where exposed heath-covered headlands and cliffs contrast with wooded slopes leading down to sheltered tidal lakes. It is a landscape patched with ancient fields and dotted with medieval farmhouses, in which 19th century forts and gun batteries lay hidden amongst the gorse and bracken and the tightly-packed fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand tumble down to the shore.
Each circulate route combines dramatic coastal views and inland countrysid, with fascinating historical, archaeological and wildlife sites.
This walk is 'Cremyll to Kingsand to Empacombe.'A seaside ramble through the woods and fields of the Country Park to the fishing village of Kingsand, returning past ancient forts and farms.
