This walk is taken from the booklet 'Five walks around St Keverne' by Robin Bates and Bill Scolding. To reach Porthallow take the road that leaves the square in St Keverne by the White Hart Inn; the village is two miles away to the north-east and you can park on the beach.
On the beach is a sculpture marking the mid-way point of the South West Coast Path. From here it is approximately 315 miles to the ends of the path at Minehead and Poole.
Starting from the fishing cove of Porthallow, you follow cliff paths giving spectacular views of the shipping. Brace yourself for the war zone at Nare Point and check your tide tables - low tide is best in winter if you want to see flocks of shorebirds at Men-aver Beach. Allow at least three hours.
