New map reveals highlights of the Coast Path: The Official Guide to the South West Coast Path
New map reveals highlights of the Coast PathA souvenir map has been produced to inspire people to walk the South West Coast Path National Trail and mark their progress along the way. It’s been produced by graphic designer Christopher Reading, who’s walking the entire length of the 630 mile path in stages. He hopes to achieve his goal within a few years and the map will chart his progress around the peninsula. Starting in Poole, he’s recently passed through Lands End and is making his way up the north coast of Cornwall and Devon to the end point at Minehead. Christopher’s design has now been turned into a poster and is available from the South West Coast Path Association’s web shop or by phoning 01752 896237. He said: “I want to make a contribution to something that I think is a wonderful national treasure, and to help those who maintain it.” Mark Owen, South West Coast Path National Trail Officer says, ‘Few people are fortunate enough to have the time to walk the path in one go, and so complete the walk in stages spread over several years. As a result we often get requests from people who want a map on which they can mark off their progress. “The design Christopher has come up with, is perfect for this – it’s a great reminder of some of the fantastic scenery encountered on the coast, and an inspiration to complete any missing sections.” The design incorporates stunning images from the annual South West Coast Path Team’s photographic competition. It’s intended to be used as a poster to be displayed on your wall as a proud record of achievement, or to encourage walkers to complete the entire path. Each purchase will benefit the Coast Path, as a proportion of the sale price goes towards path improvement projects. |
