Media: The Official Guide to the South West Coast Path
Media
The South West Coast Path is regularly featured in the media and it’s not surprising when you consider that most people who visit the South West, do so to be beside the sea. It is estimated that 78% of visits to the region are motivated by the special environment, the coast and countryside, and the majority will go on a short walk. The demand is high and It’s our job to communicate all that the Coast Path has to offer residents and visitors in the most accessible way, whilst encouraging responsible travel. In doing so, we have a range of media services and material ready and waiting alongside a comprehensive website for up to date information. From quality editorial to a comprehensive image database, facts and figures to familiarisation visits, we want to ensure the news gets out that the South West Coast Path can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life. Download editorial guidelines, facts and figures and brand guidelines for use in third party publications here. Whether it’s wildlife along the coast or literary trails that follow in the footsteps of your favourite author, there are a growing number of themed walks to choose from as well as differing degrees of difficulty – from easy-going walks that are suitable for wheelchair users to more demanding, strenuous walks on uneven ground. For editorial enquiries or to request an interview with an expert in relation to the South West Coast Path on subjects ranging from maritime history to geology, contact our Communications and Project Officer, Alex Green by email (alex.green@devon.gov.uk) or call her on 01392 382683. Our photo gallery is organised and managed by Elizabeth Robertson who has extensive knowledge of the South West Coast Path after four years working with the team as the Administrative Support Officer. In recent years the gallery has increased in size and quality with the addition of photographs from the general public, as well as professional and semi-professional photographic contributions. Elizabeth has also managed a highly successful annual photography competition, which this year is being run in association with Devon Life and its sister titles, Somerset Life, Cornwall Life and Dorset magazine. Click here to enter the competition. The gallery can be viewed on Flickr or by selecting one of the custom slide shows available throughout the website. They are organised into sections along the coast path or by subject, whether it’s wildlife, heritage, landscape or people enjoying the South West Coast Path. To request a high resolution version of any of the images in the Flickr gallery to be used only alongside articles on the South West Coast Path or to ascertain the full extent of our image database, please contact Elizabeth via the team’s address or by calling 01392 383560.
